Arvizio Optimizes LiDAR Point Clouds for HoloLens Mixed Reality

    By admin | News, Press Releases | 0 comment | 26 July, 2017 | 2

Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA – July 26, 2017 – Arvizio, Inc., announces the integration of LiDAR point cloud processing with MR Studio, its enterprise mixed reality (MR) software platform for HoloLens and other mixed reality devices. MR Studio is a comprehensive mixed reality suite designed for the enterprise to meet the emerging needs of the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction), industrial, healthcare and education markets.

Industries such as AEC, Mining, Surveying and Oil and Gas employ 3D LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) to construct point cloud models – a number of which involve billions of points encompassing many square kilometers.  Mixed reality devices and smart glasses are unable to render these numerous points therefore a means to serve accurate portions of the model is required in order to navigate the full model on the MR device. Arvizio’s proprietary ASPEN (Advanced Spatial Processing Engine) provides cross-platform visualization with automatic level of detail (LOD) processing for complex 3D models while maintaining visual quality and accuracy to enable a rich visualization experience via MR Studio. Arvizio’s MR Studio platform constructs a spatial data pyramid with rapid data indexing, allowing vast LiDAR models to be structured into segments which can be displayed and navigated on demand based on the user’s model viewing requirements.

“The challenge facing many industries in their quest to adopt mixed reality is the ability to view and share highly complex 3D models,” said Borys Vorobyov, Arvizio’s CTO. “Arvizio has created powerful algorithms to rapidly process and display complex models on HoloLens and other mixed reality devices. Our LOD-based data handling assures that the user is able to navigate with ease throughout the entire model, regardless of the model’s size and complexity.”

MR Studio extends the ability to view and interact with point cloud data across locations with MR Studio Remote collaboration tools. MR Studio Remote’s collaboration features allow participants to share, discuss and analyze the detailed 3D holographic content with live audio, video and interactive annotations.
